Our visit to the new Crowne Plaza

On Saturday 1st of July, the Crowne Plaza at 764 Colombo Street, Christchurch, held their open day and we went and had a look.

The original office for EPA Business (previously known as Ed Post & Associates) was on the 5th  floor of the building. On the 22nd February 2011 when the devastating earthquake hit, a board meeting for the Gestalt Institute was being held in our office. Due to the stairs collapsing, the EPA team and the board members exited the building by smashing a window and using a fire hose to lower to the car park.

A few of the escapees from that day, along with friends and family, were very fortunate to be given access to freely roam the 5th floor rooms of the newly renovated Crowne Plaza. We really enjoyed being back to reminisce about our adventures that day and share a toast to celebrate ingenuity used to aid our exit.

The renovations are beautiful and the Crowne Plaza is in a fantastic location! If you are ever looking to stay in the Christchurch CBD, we recommend the corner suites that overlook Victoria Park.

We would like to thank the General Manager, Reinier Eulink, for his kind and generous hospitality. Also, a big thank you to Ian Rae for organising the get-together.
