The Big Cheese

Having worked for over 27 years in a large accounting firm Ed brings a wealth of experience to the businesses he works with. He has been a past entrepreneur in the retail industry as well for over 10 years, so he knows the practicalities, pitfalls and risks of running a small business outside of the accounting profession.

Somewhat sports mad, Ed has represented Canterbury and NZ in squash at the masters level. He is currently Chairman of the Canterbury Squash Foundation, and is on the committee for the Christchurch Squash Club.

Ed is inherently positive about most things in life, and not much fazes him. Ed looks for the best in people, and always looks for the best possible outcome for his clients as a result.

Daniel Barnfield
Director

Daniel was appointed a director of EPA Business in 2024 and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. 

He’s our resident Xero champion and techy to chat with to sort software solutions for your accounting needs. 

He thoroughly enjoys getting to know people and their businesses. One of the things he enjoys the most is engaging with our clients and delivering their version of success.

Daniel has a young family and outside of work hours enjoys the outdoors and can usually be found on a hunting or mountain biking adventure.

Leita Tonkin
Accountant

Leita joined Rose & Associates in late 2006 and has been a loyal and dedicated member of the firm from day one! She enjoys working in a small friendly team and knowing clients by name.

In May 2020 Leita joined the EPA team when we incorporated Rose & Associates, and we’re delighted to have her on board.

Leita is a regular on the weekly quiz circuit, has an impressive general knowledge, and is always keen to learn more. To unwind Leita enjoys gatherings with good friends including dinners, movies, wine and coffee!

Hadyn Downes
Accountant

Hadyn joined the EPA team November 2021. Prior to this, Hadyn worked at Fulton Hogan and Vodafone to assist in payroll and the commercial project spaces, spent two years living in the Middle East and partnered in opening a local wine bar here in Christchurch.

When not at work, Hadyn keeps busy trenching through her studies to become a Chartered Accountant, plays a role in the smooth running of her business, and most of all enjoys quality time with her family.

Carolina Kiminami
Client Services Assistant

Coming all the way from Brazil, Carolina landed at EPA at the end 2022 - and it didn’t take her long to become a Kiwi-style flat white coffee lover! Carolina is an experienced administrator who has in her previous years worked in different sectors, such as real estate and video production.

As a dog lover, Carolina likes to pamper her Scottie dog, Bilbo. Her interests include socialising with friends, going out for dinner and travelling. She also loves having quiet times at home, crocheting plush toys while binging on TV shows and podcasts.

Stephanie Marsh
Tax Administrator

Prior to joining EPA, Stephanie worked in administration support for 16 years at several Christchurch accounting practices.

Stephanie enjoys traveling with her husband and spends most winter Saturdays on the sideline at local football grounds, supporting her sons.

Fraser Howard
Senior Accountant

Fraser brings a robust background in accounting from his experience in other accounting firms and within the construction sector in Christchurch. Fraser takes pride in providing an outstanding personalised service and being the trusted resource for any of your accounting questions.

Fraser's professional journey has been marked by success in diverse financial domains. With a track record of more than 7 years in the professional services industry, together with 2 years in a commercial accounting role in the construction industry, Fraser is able to deliver a broad range of accounting and business solutions.

Throughout Fraser’s career he has developed a passion for budgeting, cash flow analysis, data analysis, operational process and system improvement, compliance and financial reporting.

Beyond the numbers and spreadsheets, Fraser is a passionate sports enthusiast. Whether it's supporting the local team or participating in competitive and recreational sports, Fraser's personal interests add a vibrant and energetic dimension to our team culture.
